Visas and Green Cards for Children

In almost all cases when someone becomes a U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder) or U.S. citizen, he or she is allowed to obtain green cards for any children, as well. This fits with the goal of family reunification found within the U.S. immigration laws. Who qualifies as a child, however -- whether biological, stepchild, or adopted child -- and how the application process will go forward -- depends on a number of factors.
