This form allows inadmissible nonimmigrant aliens to apply for advance permission to temporarily enter the United States.
The following aliens can file Form I-192: Inadmissible nonimmigrants already in possession of appropriate documents, Applicants for T nonimmigrant status, or Applicants for U nonimmigrant status. Aliens who wish to be admitted under the Visa Waiver Program should NOT file this form. If you are an inadmissible alien from a VWP country, you must apply for a nonimmigrant visa at a U.S. Embassy or consulate.
Important Information for I-192 Applicants
If you already have the appropriate documents, you should file your application in person at a Customs and Border Protection before the date of intended travel to the U.S. You can contact the port-of-entry or the Customs and Border Protection designated port of entry before submitting your application to make sure you will be able to file without any problems.
There is no biometric fee
You will be notified in writing of the decision on your application. You should wait at least 90 days after submission of the application before contacting USCIS with questions regarding your file
There are special instructions for citizens of Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands.
