The purpose of Form I-192, Application for Advanced Permission to Enter as a Non-Immigrant, is to allow inadmissible nonimmigrants to apply in advance for permission to enter the United States temporarily. As it currently stands, the USCIS filing fee for Form I-192 is $545. Payment of filing fees are made to U.S. Customs and Border Protection when filing Form I-192 at intended Customs and Border Protection port of entry of preclearance site. Fingerprinting is also required when filing Form I-192, but unlike many other forms, there is no biometric services fee attached to filing Form I-192.

Fee Waivers Available to Applicable Immigrants for Form I-192

Certain nonimmigrants are afforded exemptions from paying the $545 USCIS filing fee associated with Form I-192. These exempt non-immigrants include those nonimmigrants filing Form I-192 under T nonimmigrant status or under U nonimmigrant status. All other applicants, which will include any other inadmissible nonimmigrant with applicable documentation, will be required to pay the filing fee. To determine your status as either a U nonimmigrant, T nonimmigrant, or inadmissible nonimmigrant, if one does not already know, you should consult with legal counsel before filing.

Cost of Getting Legal Help with an I-192 Waiver

The legal fees associated with an attorney assisting with filing an I-192 waiver will vary based on several factors. First, an attorney is free to set their own rates regarding preparing and filing immigration forms, and consulting with several attorneys is advised to gather a general idea of the appropriate costs. Secondly, certain nonimmigrants require many other forms of documentations prior to being eligible for an I-192 waiver, which should be included in cost considerations if you propose to have an attorney do these filings as well. To determine if all applicable nonimmigrant documents are held currently, one should consult with an experienced immigration attorney regarding their immigration or temporary stay wishes before filing anything with USCIS.
