USCIS Green Card Mistakes
Upon downloading the application (form I-90) you should fill it out completely:
- There is a part on the application, under Part 2 and Question 2 that the reason for filing is asked.
- In this section the applicant should mark the letter “d”. Marking the letter “d” will let USCIS know that you are refilling the form due to an error on your green card made by none other than USCIS.
- You should make a copy of your green card as clear as possible, and if you happen to have your original application (Form I-90), that corresponds with the original filing then you should definitely include a copy of that original application as well.
USCIS has rather strict requirements when it comes to reissuing a green card. You need to make sure that you have all of your paperwork in order. It is your paperwork that serves as proof of your original application. Without the proof, a reissue of your green card with the error fixed may be significantly delayed. Once you have all of the required documentation you should mail the packet via Certified Mail with a return receipt requested. You will send the packet to the USCIS service center that issued your original green card.
