Sometimes people seek to enter the United States to perform work either skilled or unskilled, and they believe they will qualify for a VISA because of what work they would be able to perform.

Unless the Secretary of Labor makes a determination that requires workers from outside the Borders of the United States are required for some reason. There are times when certain workers will qualify for an exemption, but otherwise many will fall into the category of aliens or foreign nationals that are inadmissible.

Exemptions

At times, foreign nationals and aliens are eligible for an exemption, depending on the circumstance. Sometimes a person will have training for a specific job or training that can aid the United States, and they can apply and receive a waiver.

One of the easier ways to get a VISA or be allowed to take the citizenship test is to enlist in the United States Armed Forces. There are a number of programs that will allow foreign nationals or illegal aliens to join the United States Military. They agree to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and they are often allowed to study and if they can pass the test, they can even eventually gain full usa citizenship.

Criminal Issues

One of the problems that many aliens and foreign nationals run into is that they have issues with a criminal background. There are a whole host of issues that can keep a person from getting into the United States if they have any involvement in. Here are some of the things that can prevent a person or foreign national from entrance into the United States:

  • Any alien who has committed any violation of any law dealing with controlled substances.
  • Any alien who has been convicted of more than 2 single felony offenses.
  • Any alien known to be involved in trafficking of money, people or illegal substances.
  • Any alien or foreign national engaged in or associated with any known terrorist group.
  • Any Alien involved in any aspect of slavery, child prostitution or prostitution.

 

There are other offenses, basically as a rule of thumb any foreign national or alien that involved in criminal activity or activities that are known to authorities will be disqualified from application or earning a VISA of any kind. There is so much competition to come to the United States that having any criminal record will mostly will disqualify a person.

Many people seek to travel to the United States and there are many programs that allow a person to legally immigrate to the United States, it is only that numbers of people that are accepted are severely limited, and so it can be a lengthy wait.

Certain political issues can also prevent people from immigration or obtaining a VISA. Being a member of a Communist party, or a known affiliated Nazi party group internationally. These groups are much less likely to be an issue since the fall of the Soviet Union and the breakup of the surrounding satellite countries around central core of Russia.
