California State Population
The Census Bureau estimated that in July 2004 California’s population had increased by an annual average of about 470,265 residents since 2000 (to 35,893,799 residents).
Over that period immigration was adding about 277,310 persons each year through net international migration (more immigrants arriving than leaving).
During the same period there was an annual average population loss of about 96,585 residents from net domestic migration (more native-born residents leaving than arriving).
This level of immigrant settlement is about 32,110 more per year than during the 1990s.
