A: The n-300 form is the application to file a declaration of intention to become an American citizen. The n-300 form use is not a requirement for naturalization. However, some states require applicants seeking to carry out business with that state to complete the form. In the form, the applicant states his good faith intention to become a U.S. citizen. He or she also authorizes release of data from his records that the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) needs to ascertain eligibility for the benefit that he or she is seeking. The USCIS accepts fee waivers for the n-300 form.
