Are there services or benefits available to people who file for T Nonimmigrant status?

Answers

Anyone who files an I-914 immigration form, Application for T Nonimmigrant Status and is approved for status is eligible for the same services and benefits which a refugee would receive.  The victim of trafficking must be certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  Severe trafficking is a kind of slavery where people are used for sex or employment against their will.  Victims under the age of 18 may be eligible for benefits without certification. Some of the federally funded benefits include food stamps, possible supplemental income if the victim is mentally or physically disabled, and health insurance.  T nonimmigrants can apply for permanent resident status three years after being approved for T Nonimmigrant status.
