What is considered “a change in circumstance” that might make my Form I-800 invalid?

If I petition to classify a convention adoptee as an immediate relative, what is considered “a change in circumstance” that might make my Form I-800 invalid?

Answers

The Form I-800 purpose is to clarify the circumstances under which an adopted child will be living once s/he arrives in the U.S.  The Form I-800 is the final paperwork stage of an adoption of a child living in one the approved convention countries.  You must have an approved Form I-800A before completing Form I-800 and there must be a child already assigned to you when you file Form I-800.  If your marital status changes, or if the number of children in your house changes (because you have another child through birth, adoption or marriage) then the circumstances under which the child will be living has changed as well.  You must get permission to continue with the adoption of you have any change in circumstance.
