This type of visa is strictly for Australian nationals seeking to enter the U.S. for temporary employment in a specialty occupation. The e3 visa classification also applies to the applicant's spouse and children who are not required to be Australian citizens. Prior to applying for this category of visa, applicants must have an employment offer from the United States. While such a work visa may not be applied for within the U.S., it can be requested at any U.S. Consulate or Embassy that handles non-immigrant visas. The usembassy.state.gov website provides a list of U.S. consulates and embassies worldwide. Qualified individuals may also apply at any U.S. Consulate in Australia- namely Perth, Melbourne, or Sydney.
