Aliens who are deportable from the United States or are inadmissible may obtain a cancellation of removal if:
1) They been admitted as a permanent resident for at least 5 years
2) Have lived uninterruptedly for 7 years in the United States following admission in any status
3) Have not been convicted of an aggravated felony.
Removal may also be cancelled where an alien shows that she has been the victim of domestic violence or extreme cruelty by a parent or spouse who is or was a usa citizen. Also, if the alien is the parent of a child of a usa citizen, and the child has been subjected to abuse by the citizen parent, the former may obtain a cancellation of removal by the Attorney General.
