The USA Green Card lottery selects a certain number of individuals each and every year through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. This Green Card lottery awards such status to individuals who are eligible and who have entered into the lottery where applicants are picked at random. If an individual receives their Green Card this way, it is the luck of the draw and entitles them to permanent residency in the United States. However for the individual to be eligible for this Green Card lottery, they must have fulfilled all of the requirements necessary to get a Green Card at the time of the drawing. Applicants are picked at random by a computer generated drawing. If an individual does not get their Green Card this way, they may try to enter again the following year.
