The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is an organization that was established in 1950 and supports refugees throughout the world. This organization is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland with the purpose of protecting refugees at the request of the United Nations or a specific government. The UNHCR assists with the resettlement or return of refugees depending on their specific situation. This organization works to ensure that all refugees receive safe shelter from the issues going on in their home country. Ultimately they work with the refugee to arrange for local integration, resettlement in an alternate country, or a safe return home.
