Naturalization Questions

For applicants in the process of earning U.S. citizenship, the questions posed on the exams at the interview may impact whether they will succeed or fail in the naturalization process. On the day that the naturalization interview is scheduled with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), applicants face two portions of the revised Naturalization Test, English and Civics. The English portion of the test focuses on speaking, reading and writing. The applicant's ability to speak is judged by the USCIS Officer from the questions asked during the eligibility interview. The reading portion of the test requires the applicant to read 1 out of 3 items correctly to pass the test. The writing portion of the test requires the applicant to write 1 out of 3 items correctly in order to pass. The Civics portion of the test includes 10 questions covering U.S. government and history. In order to help applicants prepare, USCIS has made available all of the vocabulary found in the reading and writing portions of the test. Applicants will also find an abundance of study materials for the civics portion including all 100 questions in the question pool used for the test in English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog and Vietnamese, the Civics Flash Cards and a lesson book on civics, Learn about the United States: Quick Civics Lessons for the New Naturalization Test.
