Immigration Green Card

An immigration Green Card is the document that allows an individual to gain permanent access and residency to the United States. As many people get visas to stay and work within the United States for a specified period of time, a Green Card allows an individual to live and work within the United States for an unlimited amount of time. One of the biggest stipulations is that the person is not to leave the United States for more than six months at a time as this can be considered to be against the laws stated and can result in penalties or even deportation in extreme instances. Once an individual has held a Green Card and permanent resident status for at least five years, they can file for citizenship and begin going through the naturalization process.
