Visa Extension Form

When you enter the United States on a tourist visa, a U.S. immigration inspector will examine your passport and visa and then give you an Arrival/Departure Record. (Form I-94). The I-94 form will note the date that you are required to leave the United States. You will need to turn your I-94 form in when you leave the country. If you wish to extend your stay in the United States, then you need to seek permission from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) before your departure date. Proving that you are willing to obey immigration laws will be important if you want to travel to the United States in the future. If you stay past the date on your I-94 form, you may be subject to deportation. Foreign citizens wishing to visit the United States for vacation or other temporary reasons must obtain a nonimmigrant, or tourist visa. There are two temporary visas available to travelers. The B-1 visa is for business travelers, and the B-2 visa is for vacationers and those coming to the United States for medical treatment. Persons wising to receive a USA nonimmigrant visa must complete the appropriate application for their purposes.
