USA Naturalization

The "Naturalization" process awards you official citizen status and makes you a permanent citizen of the United States. Current Green Card holders can be eligible to apply for naturalized status. Before a Green Card holder can apply for permanent citizenship via the naturalization process, he or she needs to fulfill a residency requirement. You may apply for naturalization if one of the following is true: you have been a lawful permanent resident for five years; you have been a lawful permanent resident for three years, have been married to a US citizen for those three years, and continue to be married to that U.S. citizen; you are a lawful permanent resident child of United States citizen parents; you have qualifying military service. You will need to complete a USA naturalization application form, or N400 form, attend a citizenship interview, and take an oath of citizenship to complete the naturalization process. When you become naturalized, you agree to accept all of the rights and responsibilities of a United States citizen. You can find more information about the naturalization process at the USCIS website, including an application and comprehensive application guide.
