E2 Visa

An E2 Investor visa allows an individual to enter and work in the United States based on a specific investment that they will be controlling within the country. This visa is granted for a specific period of time and must be renewed as necessary. The investment must be considered to be "substantial" and show some way of contributing to the United States economy. Setting up a small shop in and of itself does not show proper proof to obtain an E2 visa. Spouses and underage children may accompany individuals who obtain an E2 visa for the duration stated on the visa. There is certain proof that must be shown to entitle a given investment as qualified for somebody to obtain and hold an E2 visa.

Fast Facts

  • The amount of the investment to qualify somebody for an E2 visa must be in excess of $200,000.
  • An individual may leave the United States at anytime with an E2 visa, but not in excess of six consecutive months.
  • There is no limit to how many times an individual may renew their E2 visa, so long as they can show that the investment is still legitimate.
