Citizenship is the status of a citizen with its attendant duties, rights, and privileges. A person's citizenship is their membership to a country and gives them all of the rights that fall onto each individual in that given country. Being born in any given country provides you with citizenship. Each country has a different actual meaning of what citizenship means in that country, but along with it comes rights and responsibilities; for example, voting in a democratic society. To gain citizenship in another country is a rather lengthy process, but at the end of it comes the civic duties and rights that go along with membership to that country.
